1930 - Connie’s great-grandpa, John Tickins, opens “Tickins Fruit & Groceries” in The Junction

1963 - Antonie’s dad, Nadio Furlani, immigrates from Italy and starts working as a butcher in Toronto’s East end. Every morning, Nadio would appreciatively shout “Good Morning, Canada!” from his backdoor. Today, those words are emblazoned on his tombstone.

1960s - Linda's lived and worked in Toronto’s west end all her life, which has given her very fond memories. She remembers when there was a Bloor-Jane streetcar terminal. And she remembers Steinberg’s Grocery, skating at Central Arena and tobogganing at Humber Valley Park. This is a community where traditions provide comfort to homeowners and businesses alike: many who, like Linda, have stayed for years.
